Downstream of Downstream Processing

A new research topic of the ITVP is the development of new efficient process and material concepts for the Downstream Processing

Strict government regulations, higher quality standards and price controls on pharmaceuticals compel pharmaceutical producers to rethink the production methods and -designs.

Downstream processing of biomolecules, such as recombinant protein- and antibody purification as well as separation of isomers and enantiomers in the fine chemicals and pharmaceutical industry and its effluent are investigated. The objective is the use of disposables and the recycling of auxiliaries of the white, red, green and gray biotechnology in downstream processing to examine production methods and procedures to ensure and realize the optimization potential in the pharmaceutical and Feinchemikalienproduktion.
